Sažetak
In this work we present the application of solar photocatalysis for air purification over large surfaces including toxic substances such as ammonia and VOCs from agriculture, methane from the landfill etc. We assembled a variety of the laboratory and pilot scale reactors for user- customized tests including the simulation of real environment. One of those is the Photocatalytic Wind Tunnel (PWT) that presents a physical model for estimation of air-borne pollutant degradation over TiO2 based photocatalytic layer in respect to different conditions (humidity, temperature, UV intensity, air/gas flow and concentration). Continuous air quality monitoring was achieved with Arduino based instruments using gas sensors (CH4, NH3, H2, CO, CO2, VOC). The latter was evaluated as reliable and convenient online analytical methods for continuous monitoring of the processes in PWT. All studies were performed under artificial solar irradiation with different portions of UVB, UVA and visible light. Irradiation intensity measurements ; with the emphasis on UVA and UVB intensities at different wavelengths were continuously monitored. The tentative application of solar photocatalysis for air purification was evaluated based on detailed kinetic study and intrinsic kinetic rates of particular pollutants.
