Sažetak
This thesis paper focuses on conducting an analysis of Anglicisms used in the Croatian political discourse. Throughout the paper, the significance of different research conducted in the field of contact linguistics has been highlighted. An analysis has been conducted in order to determine the level of adaptation of Anglicisms in Croatian political discourse, and the main focus has been on analysis and discussion of the orthographic and semantic levels of adaptation. With the help of different sources such as 24 sata, Jutarnji list, Novi list, Indeks.hr and Dnevnik.hr, fifty-five Anglicisms were chosen for the analysis. The orthographic analysis focused on the adaptation of Anglicisms according to pronounciation, orthography, or a combination of both, as well as adaptation under the influence of an intermediary language. The analysis of semantic adaptation of Anglicisms is based on zero semantic extension, restriction in number of meanings and restriction in the semantic field of meaning, as well as expansion in number of meanings and expansion in the semantic field.
