Sažetak
On the men’s socks are placed high requirements of usage, durability, comfort and design. Therefore, it is very important to select the yarns for their production. In this master thesis the properties of casual men’s black coloured calf length socks, made in the highest content of cotton in full plating by textured polyamide 6.6 yarns of different linear density (ca. 20, 30, 40, 70 and 110 dtex x 2) were evaluated. The influence of polyamide yarn linear density on usage properties and comfort of cotton socks were assessed by testing of: mass of one sock ; plain knits mass per unit area, thickness, number of wales and courses/cm, moisture regain and air permeability ; thermal resistance of socks using the Thermal foot ; dimensional stability of socks and their colour fastness to washing, perspiration and rubbing ; plain knits propensity to surface pilling and abrasion resistance using Martindale abrasion tester. All the tests were made according to the standardised test methods.
