Sažetak
The aim of this article is to present the social functioning of veterans of the Homeland War suffering from PTSD more than two decades after the end of the war. This research include 264 respondents. All of them are veterans of the Homeland War who have combat experience in the defence of the Republic of Croatia and met the clinical criteria for PTSD at the time of the study. A socio-demographic questionnaire, the PTSD Self-Report (PCL-5), the Harvard Trauma Questionnaire and the Short form Health Survey (SF 36), a questionnaire assessing health status and quality of life in relation to health, including social functioning as dimensions of general and mental health, were used for the study. PTSD can persist decades after the stress of war and affect individual functioning, but it also poses a significant social and health problem. Therefore, a multidisciplinary approach to traumatised people is necessary.
