Sažetak
Traffic safety is one of the key elements of the transport system The increasing number of vehicles with a greater number of potential collision points can vastly increase the number of traffic accidents. In addition to emissions, traffic accidents are the most undesirable effect, i.e., a consequence of the transport system. Carrying out the verification of the correctness of the vehicle can be a very important factor in the detection and prevention of potential hazards or causes of accidents. For the purposes of the research, data on the technical correctness of vehicles in Croatia were used. Data were collected by the Croatian Vehicle Center. Based on the data, an analysis was performed on the impact of vehicle age and vehicle brand on its technical correctness. The results of the analysis show the correlation of vehicle age and technical malfunctions of vehicles (older vehicle, higher percentage of malfunctions), as well as the correlation of lower price brands (lower investment costs) with a higher number of technical malfunctions. It was concluded that the technical malfunction of the vehicle can be the cause of a traffic accident, as well as result in worse consequences for the participants in the accident.
