Sažetak
This paper analyses the current state of light and noise pollution in the area of the city of Split. The city of Split doesn't have any systematic measurement methods for asserting both noise and light pollution (especially in the old city center). This lack of systematic measurement methods poses a significant constraint in the process of analysing and problem-solving linked with these pollutions. Results of summary analysis of Split's population exposure to noise pollution show that throughout the whole day (including evening and night), 42% of Split's population is exposed to excessive levels of road traffic noise. Measurements of light pollution indicate that the sky over the city of Split has been classified as a “city sky” with the tendency of reaching the highest class of light pollution. These facts call for this problem to be considered. Therefore, knowledge and measures which would ensure the reduction of light and noise pollution with the goal of improving the quality of life in the city of Split should be applied as soon as possible.
