Sažetak
Perspective-taking is an act of perceiving or understanding from someone else’s perspective, i.e. an act of placing oneself in “someone else’s skin” or in 81 “someone else’s shoes”. It is an important concept in philosophy of mind and philosophy of emotions, and it can be encountered, among others, in play, art, and acting. Thomas Nagel asked himself “What Is It Like to Be a Bat?”, and we can equally ask ourselves what it is like to any other living being. This work will explore the role of such a skill in bioethics, especially in terms of biocentrism and taking non- human perspectives into account. Furthermore, the relationship between perspective-taking and pluri- perspectivity as the backbone of integrative bioethics will be examined, while separating between subjective point of view and nucleus of knowledge. In the end, by considering concepts such as perspective-taking, cognitive empathy, and bioethical sensibility, methodological suggestions will be given for using perspective-taking in bioethical education and bioethical research.
