Sažetak
Conservation-restoration treatment of a 17th century hand-coloured map had to be tailored in a way that the map could be wetted, but not to endanger its water-sensitive parts. After preliminary and spectroscopic research, a customized conservation-restoration treatment was carried out. Ethanol and water based rigid polysaccharide gels were cut and arranged so the whole map was treated simultaneously, but water-sensitive parts were exposed only to ethanol. Using this method, the map was thoroughly cleaned, neutralized and it was possible to remove inadequate earlier restorations easily. The relaxation of paper support enabled its strengthening, flattening and facilitated infill execution, thus enabling all set goals to be achieved without jeopardizing maps most sensitive parts.
