Sažetak
This collection of articles dealing with Barcelona’s favorite topics, metaphor and metonymy, is intended as a token of respect and admiration for Barcelona’s work, but also as a venue to suggest some directions for raising the research into metaphor and metonymy to a higher level, proving that they are indeed living research topics. The issue opens with three articles discussing some fundamental issues concerning metaphor, metonymy, and other types of figurative language, as well as figurative language in general, occasionally crossing disciplinary boundaries. This is followed by nine articles that focus on how metaphors and metonymies work in our minds and how this is reflected in discourse (verbal or multimodal), alone or in tandem, competing with each other, or interacting with other processes, in various constructional environments, and leading to creativity or polysemy.
