Freshwater is considered the most critical natural resource for sustainable agricultural development. Under climate change, water management will become even more demanding and challenging as floods, droughts (water scarcity), heat waves, massive fires, cyclones and other related phenomena (sea level rise, salinisation) will become even more frequent, pronounced and unpredictable.
