Sažetak
Netflix’s Bridgerton (2020-present) is a period drama of world-wide popularity dealing with the romantic adventures of the eight Bridgerton siblings. It takes places in the period termed the Regency – the British early nineteenth century. While creators have taken evident liberties with modernizing the setting in terms of music, costumes, and racial and cultural diversity, the show also combines modern, contemporary values about gender equality with the facts of the historical circumstances. The paper aims to explore how the heroines of Bridgerton fit into the roles of historical romance characters and how the historical setting serves to highlight contemporary beliefs.
