Sažetak
In the last decade, various authors have studied generalizations of inverse systems of compact spaces and their limits. In 1981, the first author introduced the concept of resolution of a space which may be regarded - at least for topologically complete spaces - as a convenient restiction of the notion of an inverse limit [Lect. Notes Math. 870, 239- 252 (1981 ; Zbl 0479.54005)]. Resolutions, in particular ANR-resolutions, are an important tool in shape theory and strong shape theory. In 1989, the first author and L. Rubin introduced the concept an approximate system of compacta which can be used for instance to obtain a nice characterization of the covering dimension of a compact space
