Sažetak
The book Immersive Journalism as Storytelling. Ethics, Production and Design is divided into four major parts: Storytelling, Ethics, Production and Design, Education and it is structured into 16 chapters. The first part of the book, Storytelling, explains the concept of immersive journalism, as well as the impact of new technology on media content production and the strength of media brands, what is illustrated on the example of several leading media organizations (NY Times, Guardian, Euronews). The second part of the book, Ethics, analyzes the reliance on emotions in the treatment of the topic and ethical aspects of the use of VR in the media (manipulation, inability to recognize truth and lies), which is a great challenge in maintaining professional standards. Furthermore, readers can see a case study of migrant reporting (Project Syria) and a NY Times mobile app which show how the quality of content must be above all. The third part of the book, Production and Design, is focused on the search for sustainable business models in the media (documentary production, innovative approach to cultural news), as well as the multiple benefits of using storytelling in journalistic formats to connect users with content. At the same time, ethical issues of the use of AI in news production are considered. Finally, the fourth part of the book, Education, emphasizes the need to strengthen the digital competencies of future journalists through the modernization of existing study programs. Pilot projects conducted with students show the need for detailed planning of the implementation of new technological solutions in the production of media content.
