Sažetak
This paper describes the process of a synchronous reluctance machine design optimization using topology optimization. A comparative analysis is performed for machines with a different number of pole pairs. Also, the benefit of rotor asymmetry was examined. Each model is obtained with topology optimization using a Genetic Algorithm (GA) hybridized with local on/off sensitivity method. This hybrid approach can be effective to reduce computation time. It is demonstrated how 4-pole designs are dominating 6-pole and 8-pole designs in terms of average torque and power factor.
