Sažetak
The aim of this presentation is to show norming data of the Croatian short versions of the MB- CDIs. While four years ago we discussed the process and criteria of the development of the MB- CDIs short versions, being focused in particular on a selection of items (based on the variables such as AoA, weight index, semantic categories etc.) and a sample selection (distributed by the age, gender and region), this time we would like to share the first results on a norming data. In total parents estimated 1239 children - 435 children for the Gestures and Words, and 804 children for the Words and sentences. The data confirmed already established pattern of lexical development (e.g. Fernald & Marchman, 2011): (1) onset of the expressive vocabulary from the 10th months on, (2) the increasing differences between scores on the expressive and receptive vocabulary at the age from 8 to 30 months. Regarding the syntactic ability the data obtained on the inventory Words and Sentences for toddlers showed the onset of the first word combinations as early as at 18 months but only 10% of the children included in the parental reports. About 50% of children were able to combine words at the age of 23 months, while more than 90% at the age of 27 months. These are examples of the collected data showing the dynamic and the pattern of early language development. In more details developmental trends and other psychometric characteristics of the Croatian MB- CDIs short versions will be presented.
