The chapter discusses the relative absence of maps portraying national spaces (ethnic maps) in interwar Yugoslavia, comparing the situation after 1918 with earlier periods, when such maps abounded, and with the contemporary situation in other East-Central European countries. It addresses political, practical, as well as epistemological reasons for this unexpected absence.
