Sažetak
The study discusses the information- and task- centred concepts and possibilities of Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), which may facilitate the navigation venture and ease the workload of the Officer of the Watch (OOW). The concepts refer to the development of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) (basic) services relating to main navigational tasks the system is used for or relies on. The proposals represent potential design and foundations for future outlooks of the system, in line with emerging maritime concepts such as digital vessels, cloud-based technologies and e-Navigation, always in the function of safety of navigation improvement.
