Sažetak
Pulsated electromagnetic fields (PEMF) are widely used in clinical therapeutic practice for curing the locomotor system diseases. Their applications in medicine are nowadays rapidly expanding, but without sufficient knowledge of what exactly happens in the body. The purpose of this work was to investigate the PEMF influence on rats body temperature, because the body temperature of a homothermic animals normally not vary from the mean more than 0.6 C. Animals exposed to PEMF showed significantly lower rectal temperature in comparison with control group. The difference became significant already after the first hour of the experiment, delta T=1.0+/-0.1 C (p<0.05), and more pronounced at the third and fourth hour delta T=1.8+/-0.1 C (p<0.01). The biggest mean difference reached after the third hour was 2.1+/-0.5 C (p<0.01). On the basis of the obtained results it could be concluded that PEMF influence thermoregulation mechanisms in the body by inducing and/or blocking certain physiological reaction in both circulatory and nervous system, connected with heat regulation.
