Sažetak
Entrepreneurship is a localised process that draws on local institutions, resources and networks. The inter-agent interactions in space may have their origin in domestic milieu but, in globalised world, they may draw their roots also from the international economic linkages. Yet, there is a surprising lack of research linking economic geography, international trade and entrepreneurship literature in addressing these issues at local level. Our study attempts to bridge this gap in the literature and for the first time investigates the effects of export diversification (extensive margin) and specialisation (intensive margin) within manufacturing sector on firm entry, survival and growth within and between cities and municipalities. Spatial econometric techniques are applied on data on population of firms from a small and open economy in 2007-2017 period. The extensive margin is identified as a principal channel of influence on local entrepreneurial outcomes in manufacturing sector but effects on firm survival and growth in other localities are negative. Export margins within manufacturing sector also have effect on entrepreneurial outcomes in other sectors of local economy.
