Sažetak
The paper is a joint collaboration of four scholars: Javier Lopez Frias (PennState University, USA), Brett Diaz (Toronto University, Canada), Marcus Campos (Leuven University, Belgium) and Matija Mato Škerbić (University of Zagreb, Croatia). Kamila Valeryevna Valieva is a 15-year old (born 2006) professional figure skater from Russia that was found guilty of violating World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules on 8th February 2022, during the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, where she was the favourite to win the gold medal. She was first suspended (8th February), then cleared (9th February), and finally taken to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) (13th February). CAS made a decision in her favour and she was allowed to compete in the women's singles competition (15th February). However, she ended fourth and in tears during and after the competition. In the paper, we will analyze the case from two perspectives. On one hand, we will approach from the Protected Person Class viewpoint, while on the other, we will use the relational-contextual justice framework developed and presented in the previous paper (Diaz&Lopez Frias, 2019).
