Sažetak
In order to establish potential dijagnostic value of the comparison of bioimpedance measurements on healthy oral mucosa and smokers' oral mucosa, the authors obtained module values and phase angles in 31 subjects. The measurements were performed at ten reference points in the oral cavity, with five differently selected frequencies within the range of 30 KHz to 1 MHz. A specially adapted measuring device HP4395A with terminal system of electrodes inserted into a vacuum chamber enabled even fitting of electodes and constant sub pessure of 200 mB. In the first part of the investigation, bio-impedance values were measured in non-smokers and in smokers, whereas in the second part, prior and immediately after smoking, in order to evaluate possibilities of detecting potential rapid changes in the structure of oral mucosa, similarly to literature data. The results showed characteristic patterns of decreasing bio- impedance values depending on the increase of the frequency, distribution similarities of results for specific groups of measuring points, especially at anticipated points in the buccal, palatal and lingual mucosa bilaterally, which supported the result from previous studies. Differences between smokers and non-smokers were statistically significant at particular reference points and frequenties. Measurements on the oral mucoasa prior and afterexposure to tobacco smoke showed that there were always differences in results, but they were not statistically significant in all subjects. The autors conclude that further studies should aim to further optimization of the measuring method and its application to other pathological conditions of the oral mucosa.
