Sažetak
The study was conducted on a sample of 732 basic police training attendees in Croatia. Data were collected using the online survey method in November 2020, during the first week of their training. The results show that the main reasons to join the police are helping people and career opportunities, followed by the perception of police work as existentially safe but substantively challenging.
