Sažetak
This Master Thesis focuses on analyzing the effect of Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) as a part of the European industry, prioritizing the balance of KETs’ utilization amongst EU Member States and depicting a general state of EU high-tech industry fields. Once a description of the thesis is presented in the first (Introduction) part, a broader, theoretical coverage of the topic is given in the second part by answering the questions like: “What are the characteristics of the European industry? How is the Horizon 2020 programme connected with KETs? What are the KETs and how are they categorized? The third part of the thesis strictly focuses on practical research data, by analyzing a broad spectrum of gathered figures and tables on the given topic. By analyzing multiple indicators on European industries, and looking at their significance with labour force, a solid basis was provided for studying the behavior of KETs throughout all Member States. After that, the thesis deals with pointing out the elements that are affecting the current state of certain European industries, with an emphasis on most recent effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, current EU’s industrial strategy has been analyzed, together with the EU’s approach to nurturing the development of KET’s. Finally, the approach to main challenges regarding the realization of set goals and initiatives has been analyzed and a brief global perspective has been provided.
