Sažetak
Rapid escalation in size of cruise vessels presents a need for a development of new ports or calls for modification of already existing ones. In this paper, we present facts on ship’s safety as a main factor in determining its capability to call a port. Dimensions, manouvering characteristics and manouvering limitations of the biggest existing cruise vessels are shown. As a case study two types of existing cruise vessels are analyzed including their detailed specification characteristics. Also, the paper analyzes anchoring, dynamic positioning and a combination of these two modes as a safe way of keeping position. Possibility of entering a port and/or anchoring is analized. Evaluation of navigation safety for such large cruise vessels in respect to port, channel and waterway dimensions is studied .
