Sažetak
Samples of different plant species resembling fire blight symptoms were collected in eastern Croatia from 1998 until 2001. Bacteria Erwinia amylovora, the organism causing fire blight, was extracted from the samples. After purification, bacterial isolates were identified as Erwinia amylovora by conventional laboratory methods, including ELISA test and by PCR. The sensitivity of Croatian isolates to various antibiotics was tested by plating a suspension of overnight cultures on media containing different antibiotics. All tested isolates, even if they were from different locations and from different hosts, were sensitive to all the antibiotics used, including streptomicin. This was expected, since no antibiotics are allowed in plant disease control in Croatia.
