Sažetak
Unlike in most European countries where histories of hotel architecture and tourism infrastructure has been largely researched, in Croatia, despite the fact that tourism has for decades been the main economic branch, the early architectural history of tourism in the 19th century is still in need of a thorough investigation. Since more information on the topic is provided only by the research on the history of hotel construction in individual cities on the coast, primarily in Opatija, Rijeka and Crikvenica, this paper aims to give an insight into the most important historicist style hotels built in the continental part of the Triune Kingdom of Croatia, Slavonia and Dalmatia and draw parallels with the developments in hotel architecture in other parts of Europe.
