Sažetak
Agricultural and industrial residues and by- products, previously regarded as waste, are nowadays getting increasing attention, due to the potential to substitute utilization of food and feed crops (mostly maize silage) for biogas production. One of the biggest barriers to increased residual biomass utilization in energy supply is the cost of the respective biomass supply network and technologies to convert biomass into useful forms of energy. To address this barrier, this paper presents the model for biomass supply network optimisation of agricultural and industrial residues and by-products, whose goal is to determine an economically optimal residual biomass supply chain for biogas production, that meets greenhouse emissions saving targets. The paper is based on GIS and a graph theory approach. The model is developed and solved in P-Graph Studio, while the availability of feedstocks and transportation distance is defined with the GIS tool. This approach is tested at a case study located in a rural area. This research is expected to be beneficial to decision-makers and biogas plant operators in the development of the biogas industry.
