Sažetak
Pedagogy is for Kids ; Andragogy is for Adults (Moberg, (2006). This paper aims to define Andragogy as discipline or theory and practice dealing with the education of adult learners. Starting from various definitions of Andragogy from different authors, it considers its historical development from the first half of 20th century until present time. Special attention is paid to Malcolm Knowles and his assumptions about the characteristics of adult learners (self- concept, experience, readiness to learn, orientation to learning and motivation to learn) that led him towards defining four basic principles of adult learning (principles of Andragogy). There are some andragogical technologies which arose from the stated specifics and principles and which can help trainers to be more successful and adult learners to be more motivated. In the last part of the paper, the application of andragogical principles to the EU Border and Coast Guard training is discussed using the example of Frontex Mid Level Course (Course for Mid-level Border and Coast Guard management officers from EU Member States).
