Sažetak
Thermal power plants, the principle of operation as well as the fuels they use for their operation are briefly described. Also, the purpose of thermal power plants is described, as well as the ways in which the potential energy of the fuel is converted into electricity through heat. Usually, the energy is transmitted through the working medium that travels through the pipes in the pipe plant. The paper describes the design of pipelines that is common in thermal power plant systems. The observed part of the pipeline is loaded with a pressure of 35 bar, and a temperature of 190 °C. EN 13480-3 and EN 10216-2 standards were used in the calculation. The allowable stress of the material at the operating temperature is determined. A part of the pipeline was separated, and a compensation force was added to the cross- sectional area, which replaces the rest of the pipeline so that only the pipeline could be observed and not the whole plant. Stresses occurring in the pipeline were calculated. The finite element method using the Ansys Workbench software package was used to calculate the stresses in the pipeline. One of the advantages of the used numerical method is in obtaining fields of equivalent stresses over the entire volume of the pipeline in each finite element. Validation of the finite element mesh by the convergence of the displacement and stress solutions is made. The analysis of the obtained stress fields shows critical places where stress concentrations occur, and recommendations for the design of critical places were given.
