Sažetak
Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet- to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) emerged as rapidly available biomarkers of inflammation and advanced atherosclerosis. This retrospective multicenter study investigated whether NLR and PLR may also improve prognostication in patients with polycythemia vera (PV), a hematological neoplasm with significant cardiovascular morbidity. In this study, we show that higher baseline PLR in PV may be associated with an increased risk of future thrombosis and death in PV. Higher PLR may, therefore, represent a rapidly available biomarker which could help to identify PV patients under an increased risk of inferior outcomes.
