Sažetak
The aim of this study is to contribute to the theory of portraiture: it provides a theoretical framework for considering a separate category, designated “the alternative portrait”. This study also seeks to point out problems with typological classification and terminological determination of various examples of portrait art. The term “alternative portrait” refers to a specific category of portraits which deviate from convention, primarily by their concept and secondarily by their form.
