Sažetak
Wine production in the Republic of Croatia has a long tradition, and it dates to ancient times. Statistically, grape and wine production in Croatia is divided into two regions: Continental and Adriatic. This paper aims to determine the changes in wine production and consumption after the Republic of Croatia accession to the EU. Croatia is a Mediterranean country with a strong emphasis on tourism. Consumption of agricultural products is deeply related to tourism, and wine as a brand gives the recognizability of a specific tourist zone. The research also includes the organic production of grapes and wine by individual regions and countries. Organic production represent a particular comparative advantage of Croatia because Croatia is still an ecologically preserved region. The results obtained after using the analysis and comparison methods show the dispersion of wine production and consumption by individual regions and according to the share of white and red wines by individual regions. Finding the share of imported wines in consumption on the Croatian market before and after Croatia accession to the European Union is also part of this research. These research results are significant as a guideline for future entrepreneurs in the wine production sector as a branch of agriculture dominated by small producers organized around wine associations and family farms
