Sažetak
In the context of this series of penances at this exhibition the artist has performed for the first time, virtually, the fifth immurement – the Quintessence, a video performance that is shown in life-size in the space so that the lower edge of the projection is the angle between wall and floor of the gallery, simulating the artist’s real presence. The edge of the projection consists of the edges of the opening into which he walled himself, and the actual process is looped repetitively without end. Applied to the exhibition context, the fifth Penance is a video installation and it is completely understandable that the author has determined on a non-material performance to link the work with the fifth element, the ether. An additional layer for the analysis of the work is the fact that the video performance is a crypto-art work ; the original and unique digital document is inscribed into the blockchain cryptosystem, constituting a non-fungible token, for which ether was used – the cryptocurrency Ethereum, as a means of payment for the transmutation of the work into a unique encrypted form. All further possible re-sales of the work will also be based on ether as monetary medium.
