Sažetak
In this presentation, the author will review Gavella’s attitudes, describing the situation at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival. The author will also touch on his analysis of the artistic needs of actors and directors, but also his description of the »guests’« structure, as well as their expectations. Gavella, namely, tried to find a compromise between his tendencies of how to be interesting to foreign tourists, and to be interesting to a Croatian audience in both of its aspects, i.e. Dubrovnik’s audience, and, as he said, »our general, ‘local’ audience«. It is all closely connected with the present day situation, with the demands of the world of spectacle in which, whether we want it or not, we all participate.
