Sažetak
The incidence of malignant melanoma (MM) is constantly increasing at a higher rate than any other cancer type in humans. MM accounts for only 5% of all skin tumors, however, as many as 75% of overall tumor death rate are caused by MM. Women are more frequently affected by prognostically more favorable types of MM. The incidence of MM also varies according to localization, showing a rapid increase on the occasionally photoexposed sites, reaching peak values between 40 and 50 years of age. Risk factors for development of MM and different clinical pictures are described.
