Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to carry out an empirical research of the word class verb in one segment of English for Specific Purposes: Business English, or more precisely, English business magazines online. Since Business English mirrors one cultural aspect of the English language speaking countries – its business culture, it can be considered as a sub-culture of English using context. The corpus for the paper has been taken from several English business magazines online. The in-depth analysis of the selected corpus will show the properties of the verbs in this sequence of Business English such as: numbers, persons, voices, moods, tenses and aspects. Other aspects of Business English such as syntax, semantics and word formation are analyzed in the paper as well. The results yielded in this research will offer an original insight of the word class verb in this segment of Business English. Also, the same results may add impetus to further research as well as contrastive analysis of this word class in Business English in relation to different areas of English for Specific Purposes.
