Sažetak
Microtoponyms, oronyms, hydronyms, as well as odonyms are traces of many layers of people who once inhabited a certain area. French toponyms in particular reflect the rich history of the region. However, in the context of globalization, the issue of toponyms has acquired a new meaning and significance: the anglophonization of technologies, including exonyms, requires that serious measures be taken by competent institutions. In order to protect historical, cultural and linguistic particularities of each region, the United Nations, led by French‐ speaking countries, have established a certain degree of activity, and toponymy took on the status of ʺimportant elementʺ during the United Nations 5th Conference on geographical names.
