Sažetak
Supplementing previous research and theorizing about relationship between sensitivity to disgust and ideological conservatism, the current study examined if this relationship varies across the domains of disgust (pathogen, moral, sexual). Croatian versions of the Three Domains Disgust Scale (TDDS, Tybur et al., 2009), the Social Dominance Orientation Scale (Pratto et al., 2013) and the Right-Wing Authoritarianism Scale (Duckitt & Sibley, 2010) were administered in a sample of 154 students at the University of Zadar. The expected positive correlations were observed for two disgust domains: pathogen and sexual disgust. The absence of significant relationships for the moral disgust provides further evidence that this disgust domain, as measured with the Croatian version of the TDDS, pertains to a separate factor. Moreover, it raises the issue of the moral subscale construct validity as well as the question whether the responses to acts of social transgression, as assessed with the adapted version, are related to disgust at all. In sum, the study results contribute to a controversy about possible confounding of moral disgust with other constructs, and suggest the need for further examination of the assumed association between social transgressions and disgust.
