Sažetak
The aim of this study was to collect different species of ixodid ticks and to investigate them for the presence of SFG rickettsiae. A total of 249 ticks belonging to five species were collected from domestic animals in southern Croatia. DNA was extracted from individual nymph and adult ticks. Each sample was tested for the presence of rickettsiae by using PCR assays to amplify a portion of four genes. Subsequent sequence analysis of selected amplicons of all four genes revealed that D. marginatus ticks are infected with R. slovaca and H. marginatum ticks with R.aeschlimannii.
