Sažetak
The problem of the gap formation between veneer and metal, as a result of polymerisation contraction, different coefficients of thermal expansion and liquid absorption is widely known. Marginal gap weakens the bond strength between veneer and metal surface and also discredit prosthetic appliance aesthetically and hygienically. Dental industry has developed many bonding systems to avoid the risc of marginal gap with all aforementioned consequences, but often their results are contrary to the manufacturer's allegations. In this study four bonding systems (Silicoater, OVS, AD, Kevloc) were investigated, different in technique and in bond conception, and were applied on Ag-Pd and Co-Cr alloy. The specimens were tested with shear lest 24 hours after polymerisation, aftee four weeks immersion in water 37oC temperature and after thermocycling. The aim of this study was to determine the shear bond strengths of investigated bonding systems and to perform microscopic search of the breakdown surfaces of the specimens, as well as their cuts. For that purpose light microscope Olympus UMA-BH2 was used, supported with computer image analyser Leco L2001. According to the data obtained it could be concluded that three bonding systems prevent from rising of marginal gap, but with the significantly different bond strengths. Constant bond strenglts, despite the ageing treatments used, were obtained by OVS technique (8.88-8.46/ 7.58-7.54 Mpa). The newest bonding system - Kevloc obtained exceptionally high bond strengths tested 24 hours after polymerisation (13.19/ 12.43MPa), but they were significantly reduced after immersion in water (7.61/ 7.96MPa) and thermocycling (6.68/ 6.07 MPa). Such a distribution of bond strengths performed also Silicoater technique, but with lower bond strength values (6.71 - 5.68-4.68/ 7.80-3.97 Mpa). The bond strength values of AD bonding system were not significantly better from classic veneering procedure. The use of the bondinq systems is reality in modern dental practice but there is also constant need for their investiqation while the results obteined are often contrary to the expectations.
