Sažetak
Parental involvement in Croatian early childhood education (ECE) settings has been regulated by different acts since 1956. The contemporary curriculum is following the path. Although a public interest for a teacher–parent relationship exists, there is a lack of research in the ECE field. Discussing the importance of parental involvement and teachers’ responsibilities in maintaining this relation, it is questionable whether teachers have the required competencies. While teacher’s education in Croatia is oriented toward enhancing their competences for parental involvement, professional development doesn’t offer the same possibilities. This chapter discusses the presence of parental involvement in Croatia through literature review and research included interviews conducted with 180 ECE teachers.
