Sažetak
This study addressed the influence of the working day on the voice in professional folk singers and dancers. The voices of the 10 males (average age 31, and years of working experience 8, 5) were acoustically analysed. Pre- and post-work voice recordings were organized from 8.45 am-9.30 am and 1.45 pm-2.30 pm, respectively. The results of the descriptive statistics for the acoustic variables before and after the working time, together with the results of the T-tests, showed that only the fundamental tone at minimum pitch level, and harmonic-to-noise-ratio at maximum pitch level changed significantly, while the values of the vocal rise time, intensity and maximum phonation time remained about the same. Although the results did not suggest deterioration of the vocal parameters as a result of working time, one must be careful in interpretation of the data because the critical point may be the fact that the pre-work results were based on morning voice, so the measured parameters may be contaminated by this particular factor. This hypothesis, however, need to be tested in future study designs where the initial voice recordings would be organized not prior to work, but later, after the vocal and body warm-up when the voice becomes stable. According to the aforementioned hypothesis, the influence of the working time, that is, vocal fatigue, might be measured.
