Sažetak
The title of the paper indicates a direction: it is impossible to depict either emancipation of women or the contemporary understanding of misogyny as such on their own ; they must, above all, be understood as mutually interdependent phenomena. My starting premise is to refuse to recognize them as fully formed ideologies, each with its already established corpora of meanings. Rather, I take them to be functional structures that initiate various politics and policies. The politics and policies in question, however, are not necessarily on opposite ends of the political spectrum, even though they have a tendency to lapse into familiar political patterns. To demonstrate my argument, I will present my claim through four elements: the enthymeme ; the public voicing ; the French Revolution and finally, the ultimate duel, when private misogyny becomes public hate of the other.
