Sažetak
Language acquisition can be described exploring single language, however, crosslinguistic analysis based on an analysis of various typologically distant languages provide more profound and better justified answers. Croatian is a language marked with rich morphology and as such is an interesting language for contrastive analysis in search for not only language acquisition description, but defining the underlying mechanisms. Interplay of cognitive and linguistic features in a child language development has to be taken into account and it should be explored in the area of monolingual development and bilingual development as well as in impaired language development. The crosslinguistic perspecitive provides a better insights into the facts related to language development universals and language specific features. This approach will be discussed in the paper giving some pros and cons for different methodologies. Results obtained in different languages, both in conducted studies and based on metaanalyses will be presented.
