Sažetak
Tourism and hospitality industry is the most important and most developed industry in the world which influences the destination´s socioeconomic development. Over the years this industry faced tremendous turbulences and crises, and most recent one is the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus. This reflected strongly on world, and on Croatian economy resulting in development of obstacles, which is why it is important to rethink ways of surviving on the tourist market. Purpose of this paper is to analyse the current state of Croatian tourism and based on the findings recommend further developmental solutions in the post-COVID- 19 period. Authors will apply a content analysis approach in order to compare the findings of various strategic documents, business reports and recent scientific papers in tourism focused on the current situation and consequences of the pandemic on the tourist value chain and determine the pandemic's socio-economic consequences in tourism in the case of Croatia and the planned strategies for tourism recovery in the coming years. Findings indicate the need of offering various local and domestic products, paying attention to the food safety and hygiene. Cooperation among producers and restauranteurs is important for renewed growth of Croatian gastronomy, and new creativity based on uniqueness and local roots. Digitalization and information and communication technology in tourism are of great significance for future success.
