Sažetak
Digital technologies are becoming more and more pervasive in shaping modern society. The logic of digital networks and databases is changing discourses related to perception, memory, identity, history, politics, ideology etc. The idea of active and connective memory requires a new understanding of agency where minds and technics are interwoven. By exploring the concepts of memory and mediatisation, this paper highlights the aspect of digital as a construct of a new social framework for memory, be that individual or collective. However, my intention is to link these concepts to the practices of heritage sector and the LAM institutions (libraries, archives and museums) in Europe that are now progressively digitising their collections. The goal of this paper is to analyse the ways in which mediatised memory and digitised cultural heritage has influenced the traditional role of LAM institutions as agents of recorded knowledge. In order to reach this goal, the theoretical framework will be applied on the two selected cases: Europeana and ICARUS HR.
