Sažetak
Digital technology has an important role in offering documentary new possibilities for representing the real and altering their relationship with their subjects and their audience. In this paper I explore the meeting point between the digital and the performative documentary/first person documentary/essay film tradition. The films of Avi Mograbi use embodied and situated knowledge, performed identities and hybrid aesthetics, and attest to the different ways in which documentary today is resisting static identities and is changing in form and rhetoric. Mograbi combines evidentiary and confessional truth-claims and he puts his multiple performances on show constantly undermining his authorial authority. The filmmaker’s subjectivity permanently ruptures the illusion of objectivity. The films are not conventional documentaries at all, but the staging of the problem of documentary truth-telling.
