Sažetak
Split, Croatia is a city located on the Adriatic Sea. It is a city rich with cultural tangible and intangible heritage. Visitors in the old town are free to view the ancient architecture and monuments and to learn about the historic stories thru story’s and legends. Split’s contemporary culture, hidden from immediate view to tourists, includes conservative values and a strong connection to family and the church. Tourists who confuse the seaside location with a beach destination, sometimes behave outside of the expected cultural norms of the city. This questionable behavior continues to increase as Split struggles with the reality of over tourism. ‘’Monumental Messages’’ is a project that brings Split’s most popular monuments to life and combines bits of history and lighthearted but educational messages for tourists. The idea is that these messages will be delivered on posters and postcards placed at key locations throughout the city, addressing the issue of tourist etiquette thru a fun, non-threatening manner.
