Sažetak
A holistic approach to education has become an important issue in recent years. Its role is fundamental in raising awareness about the fact that the quality of children's life and the process of education are influenced by a whole series of interactions in the child's immediate environment. During the early preschool education and the importance of cooperation and partnership between parents and educators is emphasized as being very important. Active participation of local authorities and kindergartens as institutions is, however, equally important, since they have represented both key factors with direct or indirect impact on child and its development. A Swimming School project has been carried out in the municipality of Tinjan for ten years now and has been attended by children between the age of four and fifteen, Proof-read by Melita Keber Jašović, 18th March 2012 2 experts, preschool teachers from the local kindergarten in the first line, as well as the local community as co-organizer and financial sponsor of the Swimming School. This paper analyzes the possible influence of the cooperation between the family, the kindergarten as an institution and the local community on the development of children's social competences on the example of the Swimming School in the Kindergarten of Tinjan. During the last year (2010) Swimming School survey was conducted among participants and their parents. The collected data were processed, analysed and used by the authors of this paper to prove the given hypothesis. It states that the successful cooperation among the family, the kindergarten and the local community can have a positive influence on the development of the Children's Social competences in a very short period of time. The aim of this paper is to present the results of the research on the extended social environment impact on the mastering of swimming skills and the development of children's social competences i.e. to establish to what degree the cooperation among the family, the kindergarten and the local Community contributes to the mastering of swimming skills and the development of social competences by way of creating a broader social environment suitable for learning and interaction among children. In this research the following methods were used: a questionnaire for parents and children, interviews with the children, and Likert-type scale. The data were processed using the qualitative method
