Sažetak
Education of doctors of dental medicine at the University of Zagreb commenced in September 1948. In that particular moment in history it was important to educate and foster the medical profession in order to preserve the oral health of the population. Study of Stomatology at the Odontological department lasted six years, and during first three years comprised mostly preclinical and clinical medical subjects. In 1962 the Stomatological department of the School of Medicine became the School of Dental Medicine of the University of Zagreb. Its content, duration and characteristics of curiculum were shaped by numerous factors such as foreign visitations, implementation of the Bologna Accord and European Commission that corrected the curriculum after the acession of Croatia to the European Union. Along the six-year program in Croatian, since the academic year 2017/2018 it offers the identical program in the English language that has first 16 students. Our colleagues have for the last 70 years been excellent professionals thathave offered and continue to offer quality dental care to patients all over the world. © University of Zagreb.
